There’s more to the Maldives than you would expect.

Visit a local fishing village and get to know the locals and the essence of true Maldivian island life. Experience the local traditions and cultural heritage. If you hear drum beats, that only means one thing. Boduberu! Don’t miss out on a local Boduberu performance, it is quite an experience. If you ever get the chance, try the local cuisine. Don’t’s

Topless sunbathing or public nudity is strictly prohibited in the Maldives. If you are visiting local islands or the capital city of Male’, wearing bikinis are not allowed, as the locals may get offended. However, you are free to wear your swimwear in your respective island resorts.

Drink:

As a 100% Muslim country, tourists are not allowed to bring in any alcohol to the country. It will be confiscated by the customs on site. In addition to this, it is prohibited to consume alcohol on local islands. All tourist resorts have permits to import and sell alcohol, so don’t worry, the resorts have fully stocked bars ready to serve.

Buy:

Be mindful when purchasing souvenirs. Turtles and corals are protected in the Maldives, so refrain from purchasing items made from turtle shells or corals, as you will be heavily fined. Help us protect the environment and the animals that live here. Take nothing but memories, and leave nothing behind but your footprints.
